About LemonSQEezy

Why we created LemonSQEezy

LemonSQEezy started with a simple frustration: we were preparing for the SQE ourselves, and we wanted better mock exams.

When we sat the SQE, we spent a huge amount of time practising questions. We worked through online SQE question platforms and question books from various providers, and we kept coming across the same problems.

Some questions contained legal errors. Others did not feel remotely like the questions we were seeing in the real assessment. When we compared them with the SRA's pre-release sample questions, which gave us a much better indication of the style and level of the real assessment, the difference was clear.

And some of the better-known online and book-based question providers were charging prices that, particularly alongside the cost of an SQE course, felt difficult to justify. That did not sit right with us.

There are plenty of providers who say they are helping students prepare for the SQE. But in our experience, simply producing lots of questions does not necessarily mean you are giving students the preparation they need. If questions are unrealistic, poorly written, or legally incorrect, they can actually make preparation harder rather than easier.

Preparing for the SQE is already expensive and stressful enough. Students should be able to trust that when they spend their time answering a question from an SQE question bank, mock exam book, or online question provider, the law behind it is correct. They should also be practising with questions that genuinely prepare them for the assessment, not questions that are unnecessarily obscure, poorly written, or fundamentally different from what they will face on exam day.

Getting a question wrong because you did not know the law is one thing. Getting it wrong because the question itself is wrong is another. And that is particularly unfair when students are paying for those materials.

So we decided to build what we wished existed when we were studying.

Built by SQE candidates, for SQE candidates

We are two future Magic Circle trainees who have both sat the SQE and achieved top quintile results. We created LemonSQEezy because we wanted a mock exam platform that we would have genuinely wanted to use ourselves.

Our focus is simple: realistic, accurate, and affordable SQE1 practice. We are not trying to replace your SQE course or teach you the entire syllabus from scratch. Instead, LemonSQEezy is designed to sit alongside whatever preparation you are already doing and give you the opportunity to put your knowledge to the test.

That means writing questions that reflect the style, length, and difficulty of the SRA's own pre-release sample questions, building full-length FLK1 and FLK2 mocks, and giving you the tools to understand exactly where you are performing well and where you need to improve.

Accuracy matters

One of the biggest reasons we created LemonSQEezy was the quality of some of the online and book-based SQE practice questions we encountered ourselves. We found questions from other providers where the legal position was incorrect or where the answer depended on an inaccurate statement of the law. We also found questions that felt designed to test obscure tricks rather than the knowledge and application required by the SQE.

We think that is a problem. Students should never have to wonder whether the answer they have just learned from a paid question provider is actually correct.

There is a huge difference between saying you are helping students prepare and actually giving them practice that prepares them for the assessment. We saw providers presenting their questions as SQE preparation while, in our view, some of those questions were either unrealistic or simply wrong.

We wanted to do things differently. That is why we have deliberately taken a slower approach. Every mock is reviewed and refined multiple times before publication. We have also had external reviewers, including other future Magic Circle trainees who achieved outstanding top quintile SQE results, test our questions and provide detailed feedback. We incorporate that feedback before anything goes live. We do not publish anything unless both of us and our external reviewers are confident it is accurate.

Realistic practice, not just more questions

We also realised that simply having thousands of questions is not necessarily the best way to prepare for the SQE. The real assessment is demanding. You need to know the law, apply it to unfamiliar scenarios, work under significant time pressure, and maintain concentration across a long exam.

So we built LemonSQEezy around mock exams rather than a traditional question bank. Our exam interface is designed to feel as close as possible to the real SQE assessment, including features such as question flagging, a built-in calculator, and the ability to review flagged questions.

You can practise in Exam Mode, with official timings, or use Training Mode when you want immediate feedback and a more flexible revision experience. And because understanding your performance is just as important as getting a score, we built detailed analytics to help you identify your weaknesses, track your progress, and understand your confidence.

More than just a mock

We wanted LemonSQEezy to help you throughout your preparation, not just on the day you decide to sit a mock. That is why the full subscription includes the Daily Squeeze, giving you a brand new question every morning to help build a consistent revision habit.

And once you have worked through all of our mocks, the Second Squeeze uses your own performance to create a personalised mock focused on the areas where you need the most work. The aim is simple: spend less time revising what you already know and more time improving what you don't.

Why the name?

Because revision does not have to be miserable. We wanted to build something serious enough to trust, but a little less serious to use. So yes, there will be the occasional lemon pun, topical reference, or current affairs joke.

But underneath the lemons, the aim has always been the same: Create the SQE mock exams we wanted when we were studying, accurate, realistic, genuinely useful, and affordable.

We hope they help you get the result you are working towards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is LemonSQEezy for?

LemonSQEezy is designed for anyone preparing for SQE1.

Whether you’re studying with a provider such as BPP, The University of Law, BARBRI or QLTS School, or you’re self-studying, our mock exams are designed to complement your preparation. We’re a mock exam provider, not a course provider, so our focus is giving you realistic practice that fits alongside whatever route you’re taking to qualification.

Why should I trust LemonSQEezy?

LemonSQEezy was created by two future Magic Circle trainees who have both sat the SQE and achieved top quintile results.

Every mock has been reviewed and refined multiple times before publication. We’ve also had external reviewers, including other future Magic Circle trainees who also achieved outstanding top quintile SQE results, test our mocks and provide detailed feedback, which we’ve carefully incorporated.

We know how important it is that practice materials are accurate, realistic, and genuinely prepare you for the SQE, so we haven’t rushed the process or cut corners. We don’t publish anything unless both of us and our external reviewers are confident it’s accurate.

Why choose LemonSQEezy for SQE mock exams?

LemonSQEezy is not designed to replace a comprehensive SQE preparation course. Instead, it’s designed to complement your existing studies by providing high-quality, realistic mock exams.

Compared to other SQE question providers, we believe three things set us apart.

First, accuracy. We’ve seen questions from other providers that are simply wrong. That’s not fair on students, who deserve materials they can trust rather than risking learning incorrect law. That’s why we take a different approach: every mock is reviewed multiple times before publication, with feedback from external reviewers incorporated throughout. We don’t publish anything unless both of us and our external reviewers are confident it’s accurate.

Second, realism. Our questions are written to closely reflect the style, length, and difficulty of the SRA’s own pre-tested sample questions (the questions that actually appeared in the real SQE assessment), giving you practice that genuinely prepares you for exam day.

Third, value. We believe excellent SQE preparation shouldn’t come with an eye-watering price tag. That’s why we’ve built what we believe is one of the highest-quality mock exam platforms on the market at one of the most affordable prices.

What do the mock exams cover?

Our mock exams are designed to cover the entire SQE1 specification.

Every mock has been written with the SRA’s published Functioning Legal Knowledge (FLK) specification in mind, ensuring you practise the topics that matter for the real exam.

How many mock exams are included?

LemonSQEezy currently includes six mock exams.

These consist of:

β€’ Two full-length FLK1 mock exams (170 questions each).
β€’ Two full-length FLK2 mock exams (170 questions each).
β€’ Two 90-question mini mocks, one covering FLK1 and one covering FLK2, ideal for targeted practice or when you’re short on time.

All four full-length mock exams are split into Part A and Part B. This allows you to take a break between sections or complete each part on different days, while still experiencing the equivalent of a full SQE assessment.

Do you offer any free mock exams?

Yes. You can try LemonSQEezy for free with two 30-question mock exams, one covering FLK1 and one covering FLK2.

Each mock covers a range of the SQE1 specification, giving you a chance to experience our questions and exam interface before you buy.

And, because revision doesn't always have to be serious, there are a few funny puns thrown in along the way.

Do you offer a question bank as well as mock exams?

No.

Our focus has always been on creating realistic, high-quality mock exams rather than thousands of standalone questions. Writing a huge question bank while maintaining the level of accuracy and realism we expect simply wasn’t something we were prepared to compromise on.

Instead, we’ve carefully curated a collection of mock exams that are designed to closely replicate the real SQE assessment.

What is the Daily Squeeze?

The Daily Squeeze is your daily dose of SQE revision.

Every morning, full membership subscribers receive an email containing a brand-new multiple-choice question. Each question is only available until midnight, encouraging you to build a consistent revision habit through short, daily practice, rather than relying on last-minute cramming.

Revision does not always have to be serious, so don’t be surprised if the occasional lemon pun, topical reference, or current affairs joke sneaks into a question to brighten your day.

What purchase options do you offer?

You can either purchase the complete LemonSQEezy package, which includes all of our mock exams and features, or buy individual mock exams separately.

For most students, the complete package offers significantly better value for money.

I’m only studying for FLK1 or FLK2. What are my options?

While we don’t currently offer dedicated FLK1 or FLK2 packages, you can purchase individual mock exams if you only want practice for one part of the assessment.

However, if you’re preparing for the full SQE1, our complete package offers the best overall value.

Is access permanent?

No. Your subscription gives you 12 months of access from the date of purchase.

We chose a one-year subscription because it comfortably covers both an SQE sitting and, if needed, a resit. With the right preparation, we’re hoping you’ll only need the first part of that sentence, and we’ll do everything we can to help put you in a position where the resit stays firmly off your timetable.

How many devices can I log in with?

Your account can only be logged in on one device at a time.

This helps protect the integrity of our mock exams and ensures our content remains exclusive for all users.

Can I retake the mock exams?

Absolutely.

You can retake every mock exam as many times as you like during your subscription. Whether you want to measure your progress, revisit a difficult paper, or simply reinforce your knowledge, there are no limits on the number of attempts.

Can I download or screenshot the questions?

No.

Our mock exams can only be accessed within the LemonSQEezy testing environment. Downloading, screenshotting, or photographing questions is prohibited and would breach our terms of use. These measures help us protect the quality and exclusivity of our mock exams.

Are explanations provided for every question?

Yes.

Every question includes a detailed explanation explaining why the correct answer is right, why the other options are wrong, and the relevant legal principles and authorities where appropriate. We believe you learn far more from understanding why than simply seeing the correct answer.

Is the platform accessible?

Yes.

You can adjust the text size to suit your preferences, and there’s a simple toggle to activate reasonable adjustments. When enabled, this allows you to pause your exam and take breaks, with your remaining exam time preserved so you can continue when you’re ready.

We’ve designed the platform to be flexible, accessible, and easy to use for every candidate.

What exam interface do you use?

We’ve designed our exam interface to feel as close as possible to the real SQE assessment.

From the layout to the built-in calculator, question flagging, and the ability to review only flagged questions, we’ve recreated the exam experience so there are no surprises on the day. The only difference? We’ve replaced the SRA’s rather boring answer selectors with lemons.

Can I practise under exam conditions?

Absolutely.

You can choose between Exam Mode and Training Mode.

Exam Mode mirrors the real SQE experience, including the official timings, allowing you to complete a full mock under realistic exam conditions before receiving your overall score, detailed explanations, and performance analytics at the end.

Training Mode is untimed and provides immediate feedback after every question, making it ideal when you’re learning new topics or revising weaker areas.

Do you provide performance analytics?

Yes. We offer one of the most detailed analytics dashboards available for SQE preparation.

After completing a mock, you’ll receive detailed insights into your performance, including your results by topic, time spent per question, comparison with other candidates, stamina graphs showing how your accuracy changed throughout the exam, confidence tracking, personalised blind-spot analysis, and the Second Squeeze, helping you focus your revision where it matters most.

How does the Confidence Tracking feature work?

Confidence Tracking is a feature we designed after taking the SQE ourselves.

After each question, you’ll rate how confident you were in your answer on a scale of 1 to 5. Once you’ve finished the mock, we’ll compare your confidence ratings with your actual performance.

This helps you understand how accurate your instincts really are. You might discover that when you felt you were "just guessing", you were actually correct far more often than you expected, or that your highest-confidence answers are almost always right.

Many candidates walk out of the SQE convinced they guessed far more questions than they actually did. We both felt exactly the same. Looking back afterwards, we realised many of those educated guesses were correct. We built Confidence Tracking to turn that uncertainty into meaningful data, helping you understand your decision-making, identify patterns in your performance, and go into the real exam with greater confidence.

And if that’s not your cup of lemon tea, don’t worry. The feature is completely optional.

What is the Second Squeeze?

The Second Squeeze is our intelligent personalised revision tool, designed to help you focus on your weakest areas.

Once you’ve completed all of our mock exams, the platform analyses your performance and automatically creates a personalised mock exam using questions you’ve previously answered incorrectly, together with questions covering the topics you’ve consistently found most challenging. This gives you a fully tailored and varied mock exam, allowing you to spend less time revising what you already know and more time improving where it matters most.
