LemonSQEezy started with a simple frustration: we were preparing for the SQE ourselves, and we wanted better mock exams.
When we sat the SQE, we spent a huge amount of time practising questions. We worked through online SQE question platforms and question books from various providers, and we kept coming across the same problems.
Some questions contained legal errors. Others did not feel remotely like the questions we were seeing in the real assessment. When we compared them with the SRA’s pre-release sample questions, which gave us a much better indication of the style and level of the real assessment, the difference was clear.
And some of the better-known online and book-based question providers were charging prices that, particularly alongside the cost of an SQE course, felt difficult to justify. That did not sit right with us.
There are plenty of providers who say they are helping students prepare for the SQE. But in our experience, simply producing lots of questions does not necessarily mean you are giving students the preparation they need. If questions are unrealistic, poorly written, or legally incorrect, they can actually make preparation harder rather than easier.
Preparing for the SQE is already expensive and stressful enough. Students should be able to trust that when they spend their time answering a question from an SQE question bank, mock exam book, or online question provider, the law behind it is correct. They should also be practising with questions that genuinely prepare them for the assessment, not questions that are unnecessarily obscure, poorly written, or fundamentally different from what they will face on exam day.
Getting a question wrong because you did not know the law is one thing. Getting it wrong because the question itself is wrong is another. And that is particularly unfair when students are paying for those materials.
So we decided to build what we wished existed when we were studying.
We are two future Magic Circle trainees who have both sat the SQE and achieved top quintile results. We created LemonSQEezy because we wanted a mock exam platform that we would have genuinely wanted to use ourselves.
Our focus is simple: realistic, accurate, and affordable SQE1 practice. We are not trying to replace your SQE course or teach you the entire syllabus from scratch. Instead, LemonSQEezy is designed to sit alongside whatever preparation you are already doing and give you the opportunity to put your knowledge to the test.
That means writing questions that reflect the style, length, and difficulty of the SRA’s own pre-release sample questions, building full-length FLK1 and FLK2 mocks, and giving you the tools to understand exactly where you are performing well and where you need to improve.
One of the biggest reasons we created LemonSQEezy was the quality of some of the online and book-based SQE practice questions we encountered ourselves. We found questions from other providers where the legal position was incorrect or where the answer depended on an inaccurate statement of the law. We also found questions that felt designed to test obscure tricks rather than the knowledge and application required by the SQE.
We think that is a problem. Students should never have to wonder whether the answer they have just learned from a paid question provider is actually correct.
There is a huge difference between saying you are helping students prepare and actually giving them practice that prepares them for the assessment. We saw providers presenting their questions as SQE preparation while, in our view, some of those questions were either unrealistic or simply wrong.
We wanted to do things differently. That is why we have deliberately taken a slower approach. Every mock is reviewed and refined multiple times before publication. We have also had external reviewers, including other future Magic Circle trainees who achieved outstanding top quintile SQE results, test our questions and provide detailed feedback. We incorporate that feedback before anything goes live. We do not publish anything unless both of us and our external reviewers are confident it is accurate.
We have based our questions closely on the SRA’s own pre-release sample questions because they are the most reliable indicator of what the real assessment will look like.
Every mock exam we produce is a full, 90-question paper, designed to replicate the time pressure, format, and structure of the real thing. It is not just about getting questions right; it is about getting used to the stamina required for a marathon exam and learning to balance speed with accuracy.
When you sit a LemonSQEezy mock, our goal is that it feels exactly like the real SQE1.
Preparing for the SQE is already an enormous financial commitment, and students often have to pay for additional question banks on top of their course fees.
We want to ensure that high-quality, realistic practice is accessible to as many candidates as possible. We are keeping our overheads low, building the platform ourselves, and pricing our mocks at a level that we believe represents genuine value for money.
Comprehensive SQE1 preparation designed to help you pass with confidence.
